Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant with a solid foundation in accounts payable, ACH processing, pay applications, 1099 forms, and reconciliation to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience handling these core accounting functions, particularly within a fast-paced, construction-related environment. This role requires someone who is organized, proactive, and able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Junior Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable, including reviewing and coding PO and non-PO invoices, ensuring all documentation aligns with contracts, purchase orders, and budgets
  • Handle pay applications and ACH payments, ensuring all necessary supporting documents (e.g., lien waivers, insurance certificates) are accurate and complete
  • Prepare and process 1099 forms at year-end, ensuring compliance with tax regulations
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for accounts payable, vendor statements, and other related accounts, investigating any discrepancies or payment issues
  • Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure proper job cost allocation and cost center assignments
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring all payables and related transactions are accurately recorded
  • Process payments to vendors via check, ACH, or wire transfer, ensuring timely and accurate payment while managing cash flow
  • Maintain and organize records for all accounts payable transactions, including invoices, pay applications, and supporting documentation
  • Assist with reporting and other ad-hoc accounting tasks as needed

Junior Accountant Requirements:
  • 1+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on accounts payable, ACH, pay applications, 1099 processing and reconciliation
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with vendors, project managers and internal teams
  • Experience in the construction industry is a plus, including familiarity with job costing, change orders and construction contracts
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience
