LaSalle Network has partnered with a boutique law firm in Chicago on their search for an HR Manager. The ideal candidate will have a background in HR within the legal field. The HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing all HR functions within the firm, with a primary focus on recruiting top legal talent and ensuring that HR policies are current, compliant and reflective of the firm’s values. This role will be pivotal in maintaining a positive work environment and ensuring that the firm remains an employer of choice in the legal industry.

HR Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead the recruitment process for attorneys, paralegals and administrative staff, including developing job descriptions, sourcing candidates, conducting interviews and managing the hiring process
  • Review, update and maintain the firm’s HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and alignment with best practices
  • Lead the process of updating and revising the employee handbook, ensuring it reflects current laws, firm policies and best practices
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to attorneys and staff, providing guidance on HR issues, conflict resolution and career development
  • Conduct investigations and manage employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies
  • Oversee the performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations and professional development plans

HR Manager Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field; Master’s degree or HR certification (PHR/SHRM) is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources, with a focus on recruiting and HR policy development, within a law firm or professional services environment
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
