Healthcare Accounts Receivable Specialist

We are actively seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Healthcare Accounts Receivable Billing Representative to join our growing Revenue Cycle team. This individual will play a key role in managing insurance follow-ups and ensuring accurate and timely billing for inpatient, dialysis, office, and vascular services.

You’ll be responsible for managing 50+ accounts daily, contributing to efficient and accurate billing operations.

Location: Downers Grove, IL
Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1st Shift (Start between 7 AM – 9 AM, 8-hour shift)
Compensation: $25-30/hr

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough follow-up on outstanding insurance claims and patient balances via phone, online portals, and written correspondence.
• Identify and resolve billing issues, including denials, underpayments, and payment discrepancies.
• Research and appeal denied or rejected claims in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with payer guidelines.
• Work closely with billing, coding, and clinical teams to ensure accurate charge capture and claim submission.
• Maintain detailed notes and documentation for all account activity within the billing system.
• Monitor aging reports and meet productivity and collections benchmarks.
• Communicate with payers, patients, and internal departments to expedite claim resolution and optimize cash flow.
• Stay current with nephrology billing guidelines, payer policies, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or relevant certification (e.g., CMRS, CRCS) preferred.
• 2+ years of AR follow-up experience in a healthcare setting; nephrology experience highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding (ICD-10, CPT), and insurance follow-up procedures.
• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance policies specific to nephrology and dialysis services.
• Proficient in using billing systems and payer portals (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Availity).
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
