Freight Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Schedule and manage outbound freight, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries
- Monitor and update the status of all shipments, communicating any delays or issues to relevant parties
- Ensure all shipping documentation (e.g., bills of lading, invoices, customs forms) is accurate, complete, and compliant with regulations
- Negotiate and coordinate with freight carriers to secure competitive rates and efficient delivery schedules
- Work with the warehouse team to manage inventory levels, ensuring the timely shipping of products while avoiding stockouts
- Handle issues related to freight, including delays, damage claims, or discrepancies, and find effective solutions in collaboration with stakeholders
- Ensure all freight activities comply with safety, legal, and company standards
- Continuously assess and improve freight operations to enhance cost efficiency and overall effectiveness
Freight Coordinator Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is a plus
- Proven experience in freight coordination, logistics, or transportation management, preferably in a warehouse or distribution center setting
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments at once
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, vendors, and customers
- Proficient in using warehouse management software, Microsoft Office Suite and freight management tools
- Ability to problem-solve and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of shipping regulations, freight tariffs, and logistics best practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
