LaSalle Network is in search of a Food Safety Coordinator for a CPG industry leading client based in Chicago. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with food safety programs, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance protocols within a manufacturing environment. The Food Safety Coordinator will support the Quality Safety Manager, Quality, and Supply Chain teams by overseeing sampling plans, environmental monitoring, audits, and documentation management.
The Food Safety Coordinator will play a key role in executing food safety initiatives to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards. This role involves monitoring GMP compliance, HACCP programs, environmental controls, and quality systems, as well as supporting audits, sampling plans, and corrective actions. The ideal candidate will have experience in food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance with strong analytical and communication skills.

Food Safety Coordinator Responsibilities
  • Ensure GMP and food safety policies are properly implemented and followed
  • Maintain and support food safety programs including HACCP, Environmental Monitoring, Pest Management, and Raw Material/Finished Product Sampling Plans
  • Assist with third-party and internal audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up on corrective actions
  • Serve as a PCQI verifier for food safety records, supporting HACCP plan validation and verification
  • Conduct environmental monitoring swabbing, material sampling and ATP cleaning effectiveness reviews
  • Analyze quality data trends and support continuous improvement initiatives related to food safety, sanitation, and pest control
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry in SAP Quality Module, including releases, blocks and returns
  • Issue Certificates of Analysis to customers and maintain accurate quality documentation
  • Manage customer documentation requirements such as bills of lading, packing lists, and quality certificates
  • Work closely with Supply Chain to ensure incoming ingredients, chemicals, and packaging materials are inspected and approved
  • Assist in organizing and leading sensory panels for product quality evaluation
  • Support resolution of food safety complaints and implementation of corrective actions
  • Promote Quality Culture and Continuous Improvement initiatives within the facility
  • Act as a representative for QA and Food Safety Systems in the absence of the QA Manager

Food Safety Coordinator Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry or a related field or equivalent work experience required 
  • 2+ years of experience in QA/QC, preferably within the food industry
  • Working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, Environmental Monitoring and microbiological testing
  • Experience with Quality System implementation is a plus
  • HACCP and PCQI certification preferred
  • Familiarity with GFSI audit schemes and regulatory food processing requirements
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SAP and Google Suite
  • Willingness to work weekend and evening shifts as needed
  • Must be comfortable with sensory testing of chocolate and raw ingredients, including milk and soy
