LaSalle Network has partnered with a leading research institution dedicated to groundbreaking scientific advancements, seeking an experienced and visionary Executive Director of Building Operations. In this critical role, you will oversee all aspects of our client’s state-of-the-art research facility, ensuring a safe, efficient and optimized environment that empowers their world-class researchers to achieve their full potential.


Executive Director of Building Operations Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for all building operations, including maintenance, custodial services, utilities, security and environmental health and safety (EH&S)
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive building operations plan that aligns with the research priorities and long-term vision of the lab
  • Oversee the annual operating budget for building operations, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control
  • Manage a team of facilities professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and professional development
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with researchers, administrators and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment
  • Lead the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, safety regulations and environmental standards
  • Oversee capital improvement projects, renovations and space management initiatives
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in laboratory building operations and implement best practices

Executive Director of Building Operations Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a related field (PhD preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in a senior leadership role within a complex research laboratory or similar environment
  • Proven track record of success in building operations management, including budgeting, staffing and project management
  • In-depth knowledge of building systems, codes and safety regulations
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and best practices
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
