Lasalle Network has partnered with a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women and girls. As they continue to grow and expand their reach, we are seeking an experienced Director of Finance & Accounting to lead the establishment and development of their finance department.
This role is full time/direct hire, will be in the office on the Chicago Loop three days a week and is budgeted up to a base of $115,0000.
As the Director of Finance & Accounting, you will be a key member of our leadership team, responsible for building and managing the finance and accounting functions from the ground up. You will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy, ensuring compliance and driving financial sustainability in support of our mission.
Director of Finance & Accounting Responsibilities:
- Department Establishment: Create and develop the finance and accounting department, including designing processes, selecting systems, and hiring and training a team
- Financial Strategy: Develop and execute financial strategies that align with the nonprofit's mission and objectives, including budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate financial reports to the board, executive team, and external stakeholders, maintaining transparency and accountability
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, nonprofit accounting standards and grant requirements
- Grants Management: Oversee grant financial management, tracking and reporting, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately and effectively
- Audit and Tax: Manage annual audits, 990 filings and other financial compliance matters
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow, investments and liquidity to support the organization's financial health and sustainability
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks and develop appropriate risk management strategies
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team, providing mentorship and guidance to team members
- Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with other departments to integrate financial planning and analysis into decision-making processes
Director of Finance & Accounting Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field. CPA or CMA preferred
- 7+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, compliance and reporting
- Experience with financial software and systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to think strategically and execute effectively in a rapidly changing environment
