This position involves detailed analysis of trade promotions, invoices and claims within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail and an understanding of deductions management within the CPG sector.
Deductions Analyst Responsibilities:
- Analyze and process customer deductions related to trade promotions, pricing discrepancies, shortages, returns and other claims
- Validate deductions against promotional agreements, purchase orders and shipment documentation
- Investigate root causes of unauthorized or invalid deductions and collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Customer Service, Logistics) to resolve issues
- Communicate with customers to dispute invalid claims and recover funds where applicable
- Reconcile customer accounts to ensure accurate application of payments and resolution of open deductions
- Prepare detailed reports and dashboards to track deduction trends, resolution timelines and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to reduce deduction volume and processing time
- Participate in the development and implementation of enhanced deduction management systems and tools
- Work closely with Sales, Trade Marketing, Finance and other departments to ensure alignment on trade promotions and deduction management processes
- Provide insights and recommendations to reduce future deductions and improve customer satisfaction
- Ensure all deductions and resolutions comply with company policies and audit standards
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis as required
Deductions Analyst Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable, deductions management or a related role within the CPG industry preferred
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and trade promotion management tools is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
