Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer with expertise in Incident Response and Vulnerability Management to join our client’s dynamic and growing team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about maintaining the security and integrity of systems, applications and networks through proactive incident response and effective vulnerability management practices. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of the overall cybersecurity posture and protect this organization against emerging threats.
Cybersecurity Engineer Responsibilities:
- Lead and participate in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of incident response procedures, playbooks and processes
- Detect, analyze and respond to security incidents, ensuring timely and effective containment, eradication and recovery
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and document security incidents, root causes and recommended remediation actions
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members in incident response techniques and best practices
- Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity threats, attack techniques and incident response strategies
- Manage the vulnerability management program, including vulnerability scanning, assessment and remediation efforts across our systems, applications and network infrastructure
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify potential security weaknesses and risks
- Analyze and prioritize vulnerabilities based on severity, potential impact and business risk, and collaborate with relevant teams to implement effective mitigation strategies
- Stay informed about emerging vulnerabilities, advisories and patches to ensure timely and appropriate actions are taken
- Collaborate with the Security Operations Center (SOC) team to monitor, analyze and respond to security alerts, ensuring accurate and efficient incident identification and resolution
- Assist in the development and maintenance of security monitoring and detection tools, processes, and technologies
- Contribute to the development and execution of security awareness training programs for employees to enhance security awareness and best practices
Cybersecurity Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH) are highly desirable
- Professional experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on incident response and vulnerability management
- In-depth knowledge of security incident handling methodologies, including forensics and malware analysis
- Proficiency in utilizing industry-standard tools for vulnerability scanning, assessment, and penetration testing
- Strong understanding of common security frameworks, regulations, and compliance standards
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and analysis is a plus
- Proven track record of staying current with evolving cybersecurity threats and best practices
