Job Description

Our client, a reputable and fast-growing freight forwarding company that specializes in international logistics and supply chain solutions is hiring for Customs Brokerage Agents to join them. In this role, you will provide top-notch customs brokerage services to clients, ensuring the efficient and compliant movement of goods across borders. We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Customs Brokerage Agent to join our client’s team and contribute to their mission of simplifying international shipping and customs compliance.

Customs Brokerage Agent Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and review of import and export documentation, including customs declarations, invoices and shipping documents, to verify accuracy and compliance with customs requirements
  • Collaborate with customs authorities and assist in the customs clearance process, which includes coordinating customs inspections and addressing any clearance-related challenges
  • Assist in classifying products according to the Harmonized System (HS) and ensure accurate duty, tax calculations and tariff codes
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing timely updates on shipment status, customs clearance progress and any regulatory changes that may affect their international shipments
  • Stay informed about changes in customs regulations and trade laws, ensuring that all customs declarations and procedures are in accordance with legal and regulatory standards
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of customs-related documents, ensuring compliance with record-keeping requirements
  • Identify and resolve customs-related issues, such as discrepancies in documentation, customs delays or duty disputes, in a prompt and effective manner
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in the customs brokerage and logistics teams to provide clients with exceptional service

Customs Brokerage Agent Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, logistics or a related field is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in customs documentation process, international modes of transportation and various tariff classifications
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy to customs documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when communicating with logistics and brokerage teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving customs requirements
  • Proficiency in relevant software and technology used in customs brokerage and logistics operations
