Job Description
A growing client in the manufacturing industry is looking to bring a Corporate Accountant onto their team in Brentwood, TN! This role would provide the opportunity to work closely with the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance to build out processes and be a part of an organization acquiring businesses rapidly. Corporate Accountant Responsibilities:
- Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
- Perform complex reconciliations
- Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
- Assist with reviewing and data mining of balance sheet and profit and loss accounts as assigned
- Prepare procedure and policy documentation
- Review policies and procedure documentation prepared by less senior accounts for accuracy and completeness; review and update these same documents regularly to ensure they are up to date regarding personnel, systems and internal controls; work closely with Accounting Manager to ensure timely review and updating of the documents on a scheduled basis
- Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
- Prepare and submit complex weekly/monthly reports including but not limited to detailed monthly actual to budget variance reports
- Analyze reports and reconciliations to determine source of errors and trend analysis
- Participate in the development and detailed review of annual operating budgets and performance projections
- Filing and remitting taxes and other financial obligations
- Train and mentor other less senior accountants
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Assist in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
- Assist with accounting projects
- Collaborate and communicate with all other members of the organization in a positive and productive manner
- Work closely with the Accounting Manager and Controller to administer procedures and policies and act as the lead for other accounting representatives
- Act as point of contact in the absence of the Controller and Accounting Manager
- Collaborate with the A/P and A/R managers to integrate policies, procedures and process improvement initiatives
Corporate Accountant Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, business or related field of study
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience required
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Well versed with the ability to interpret Federal, State and local laws related to taxation, income recognition and compliance applicable to the industry
- Demonstrates strong technical accounting skills
- Works well independently and has adept organization and time management skills
- Collaborates with colleagues and has excellent communication skills
- Highly detail-oriented and organized
- Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Initiated and implemented process improvements to drive the success and efficiency of the business
