The Controller – Property Management/Real Estate will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of the Property Management division. This leadership position requires a hands-on approach to managing financial processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and driving strategic financial initiatives. The successful candidate will act as a key business partner to senior leadership, providing insights and strategies to optimize financial performance.
Controller – Property Management/Real Estate Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the financial operations, internal and external financial statements and performance metrics of the Property Management business unit
- Track and analyze financial performance against the budget, providing actionable insights and developing plans to address variances for senior leadership
- Manage and maintain relationships with all lending and cash management institutions to ensure optimal financial operations
- Continuously evaluate and enhance property accounting processes, systems and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Collaborate closely with corporate and property management teams to develop annual budgets, forecasts and strategic financial plans
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the month-end close process for the property management business unit
- Lead the financial reporting process for the board and stakeholders, ensuring all reports are accurate, insightful and delivered on time
Controller – Property Management/Real Estate Requirements:
- 6+ years of corporate accounting experience, with 2+ years in property management accounting
- Proven experience in people management and talent development, with the ability to lead and develop a team of 4, including 2 accountants and 2 accounts payable specialists
- Must be comfortable commuting to and working on-site at our client’s Kenosha, WI headquarters 4 days a week
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
