This Controller position is perfect for someone who loves process improvement as much as financial reporting, and who’s excited about leading a talented team in a collaborative, tech-forward environment. The position is remote-first, but requires Chicagoland residency for occasional onsite collaboration.
Controller Responsibilities:
- Prepare and oversee financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage daily accounting operations: AR, AP, GL, and treasury
- Ensure the monthly close process is clean, efficient, and timely
- Mentor and develop a growing accounting team
- Implement strong internal controls and ensure compliance standards are met
- Lead budget planning, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Help guide strategy through data-driven financial insights
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives
- Coordinate annual audits and reporting with external partners
Controller Requirements:
- CPA and a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance are required
- 15+ years of accounting experience; public accounting background highly valued
- Industry experience in technology or managed services is a big plus
- Strong GAAP knowledge and internal controls expertise
- ERP proficiency (NetSuite, Sage Intacct) and Excel mastery
- Excellent communicator who’s comfortable in a leadership role
- Must be based in Chicagoland
