Job Description

LaSalle Network is partnered with a rapidly growing start-up in the food and beverage industry, poised to hit $1B in revenue. Our client is looking for a Controller to join the organization with the opportunity to grow into an executive position and build out the accounting team and processes. This position will work closely with executive leadership and outsourced accounting team, and have the opportunity to make key, impactful business decisions to grow the business by 5x.

The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial and career-motivated, as well as able to bring outsourced accounting functions in-house by developing a team. This Controller will have full visibility to the executive leadership team and the autonomy to build out their department. This is a perfect role for a go-getter who is looking to have skin in the game with a future industry giant! Compensation is budgeted for $130,000-$150,000 base salary with bonus and equity options.  

Controller Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting team: general ledger accounting, deduction and trade spend, supporting financial planning and analysis, managing the AP and AR process
  • Look for inefficiencies to help streamline the month-end close and financial reporting process
  • Hire, mentor and grow an accounting team that understands the business and profit levers
  • Enforce proper accounting policies and principles; further develop internal accounting controls
  • Develop strong knowledge of our ERP system and assist in development of executive dashboards
  • Develop working partnerships with executive-level business leaders

Controller Requirements:
  • Intricate knowledge of accounting principles, practices and standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (accounting preferred); CPA highly preferred
  • Food, Beverage or CPG experience required
  • A proven leader with experience building out new processes and hiring direct reports
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to convey information efficiently using Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highly motivated and energized, not afraid to lead change
