Job Description

LaSalle Network’s Client is looking for a CFO to join the newly established subsidiary in Chicago. They recently acquired two entities in the US as part of their access to the Futures markets. Our Client has developed and operates an online trading platform which enables its international customer base from over 50 countries to trade contracts for difference ("CFDs") on over 2,500 underlying global financial instruments comprising shares, indices, commodities, options, ETFs, cryptocurrencies, and foreign exchange.

CFO Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Department Management:

  • Manage the accounting & finance function, oversee all tasks and procedures
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of the monthly Management Accounts, review the financial transactions for reasonableness and accuracy
  • Accept the overall responsibility for the accounting system and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all financial records (soft copies and hard copies)
  • Manage the Company’s treasury cycle, safeguarding the Company’s own cash & Client’s cash
  • Manage the Company’s taxation affairs via the calculation, provision, and payment of all applicable taxes in a timely and efficient manner
  • Oversee the payroll process and ensure the correct treatment and payment of all salaries, employee and employer obligations, and the submission of all relevant forms to the authorities and the employees
  • Ensure the accurate and timely payment of the Company’s financial obligations (internal towards other group companies and external, towards suppliers and other stakeholders)
  • Have the overall responsibility for the Company’s annual audited financial statements and annual tax statements
  • Supervise & train the Accounting Department staff, be available to clarify all queries and set up progress meetings
  • Ensure that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained throughout the accounting & finance process
  • Provide the overall financial direction of the Company (suggestions, caution warnings)
  • Document all accounting & financial company policies & procedures
  • Liaise with the Company’s External Auditors, Internal Auditors, Direct & Indirect Tax Advisors, Bankers, Lawyers, stakeholders & all relevant authorities
  • Prepare any relevant reports as per the CEO’s & BOD’s requests
  • Report any suspicious findings/transactions to the CEO & BOD where considered appropriate
  • Act in the company’s best financial and regulatory interests at all times
  • Handle crisis management

Regulatory Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Supervise all monitoring tasks related to the regulated entity
  • Complete & submit all regulatory reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Constantly monitor the Company’s large exposures and have a proactive approach to planning the cash distribution to ensure compliance with the relevant regulations
  • Constantly monitor the Company’s capital adequacy ratio and having a proactive approach to planning the assets distribution and risk exposures of items on the trial balance to ensure compliance with the relevant regulations
  • Be alert and proactive with respect to all regulatory changes & practices which may impact upon the Company’s license or regulatory status
  • Be able to provide the authorities with documented proof & numerical rationale for decisions made & financial data reported
  • Liaise with all Company advisors re: regulatory obligations, new circulars, new legislation
  • Liaise with the Regulator’s staff where necessary and appropriate

CFO Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/ Finance/ Management/ Banking/ Business Administration
  • Professional Qualification (CPA or equivalent) with at least 5 years post qualification experience
  • Experience in the futures industry will be considered a very strong advantage
  • Good understanding of the US and especially the Chicago Laws & regulations for Financial Investment Firms and their impact from a financial perspective
  • Good understanding of the CME Group and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Act
  • Comfortable working in a high-pressure environment and working to strict deadlines
  • Strong analytical capabilities; must be very competent in working with Excel
  • Knowledge of NetSuite ERP system
