*Position is REMOTE with possibility of quarterly travel.
Assistant Controller Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor a team of five accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
- Delegate tasks effectively, providing guidance and training to ensure team success.
- Oversee full-cycle accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and reconciliations.
- Manage and execute month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support financial audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with payroll tax regulations and other HR-related accounting functions.
- Provide accounting and financial support to shared services corporate offices.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and streamline accounting processes
- Implement best practices to improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
Assistant Controller Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Accounting degree preferred)
- CPA certification is a plus
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Prior experience in the media industry is strongly preferred
- In-depth knowledge of full-cycle accounting, payroll functions, and HR-related financial processes
- Strong understanding of month-end close procedures and financial reporting
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
