Are you a senior auditor from public accounting ready to take the next step in your career? Or perhaps an accounting supervisor or strong senior accountant in manufacturing looking to expand your leadership skills? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our client's innovative team as an Assistant Controller! Due to the recent promotion of the previous Assistant Controller to Controller, this client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join the team.

LaSalle Network is partnering with a manufacturing client in Montgomery, IL, that specializes in custom engineering services, innovative products and technologies, for the safe transfer, storage and processing of bulk materials. Their commitment to excellence and continuous improvement has made them a leader in the industry. This family-owned business is looking for an Assistant Controller that can be onsite full time to manage two direct reports and help with the day-to-day operational accounting functions. 

Assistant Controller Responsibilities:

  • Perform and oversee month and year-end close procedures, including preparing journal entries and reviewing the work of others
  • Manage and mentor accounting staff, currently comprising two professional team members
  • Manage the account reconciliation process and take appropriate actions to clear reconciling items in a timely manner
  • Prepare monthly financial statements of assigned entities and assist in the preparation of consolidated financial results
  • Streamline existing processes and procedures with an emphasis on continuous improvement and the development of internal controls
  • Perform periodic internal operational audit projects and assist external accounting firms in financial audits and the preparation of Corporate Tax Returns
  • Assist in the credit review process of new customers and ensure compliance with sales and use tax regulations
  • Assist in the development of annual operating and capital budgets, monitor compliance/variances and report findings
  • Develop reports and analyses to assist management with measuring and predicting financial performance
  • Regularly communicate with the Corporate Controller regarding all accounting operations and open projects
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed.

Assistant Controller Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • CPA certification is preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, including experience in public accounting or as an accounting supervisor
  • Proven experience in managing and mentoring accounting staff
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement
