The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for managing the entire accounts payable process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance with company policies and regulations. This role involves supervising a team, maintaining vendor relationships and optimizing payment procedures.
Accounts Payable Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the accounts payable team, including hiring, training and performance evaluations
- Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks
- Develop and maintain efficient accounts payable procedures and workflows
- Review and approve invoices, expense reports and payment requests
- Monitor payment deadlines to ensure timely and accurate payments
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, resolving any payment discrepancies or issues
- Negotiate payment terms and discounts with vendors to optimize payment processes
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles and regulatory requirements
- Implement and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud
- Prepare and present reports on accounts payable status, including aging reports and cash flow projections
- Analyze financial data to identify areas for process improvement and cost-saving opportunities
- Utilize accounting software and tools to manage accounts payable functions
- Recommend and implement technological solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Accounts Payable Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field is a plus but not required
- Proven experience in accounts payable or similar role, with managerial experience required
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations and best practices
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel; familiarity with ERP systems is advantageous
- Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
