Accounting Manager Responsibilities:
- Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and grant reporting to ensure financial sustainability and compliance with funding requirements
- Collaborate with leadership and program managers to provide financial insights that support organizational decision-making
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as grant-specific financial requirements
- Lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and preparing necessary documentation
- Implement and improve internal controls and accounting procedures to enhance operational efficiency
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and excellence
Accounting Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
- Non-profit accounting experience, including familiarity with fund accounting and grant reporting, is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments
