Small Advertising and Marketing Firm
Find A Job
Challenge
In 2008, our client, a small advertising and marketing firm, was surviving the recession with zero layoffs among their 30 employee firm. Buckling down and running lean, however, meant neglecting to fill several necessary internal roles, including the office manager/human resources position.
Fast forward to the summer of 2010. With the economy on a steady, upward growth trend, our client’s Vice President of Finance was handling all office management and human resources responsibilities. To put it simply, it was time to make a new hire.
Identify – A hybrid candidate who could handle both office management and human resources responsibilities
Qualify – Candidates with impeccable organizational skills and extreme attention to detail
Deliver – Qualified candidates under strict budgetary constraints
Solutions
To address our client’s needs, LaSalle Network developed a specific sourcing and recruitment strategy to obtain the top human resources and office management professionals available.
The recruitment strategy consisted of the following:
- Client Consultation – Unlike many competitors, LaSalle Network acted as a consultant and partner, not simply an order taker. We strove to broaden our clients perspective and provide guidance in hiring a high-caliber candidate every time
- Direct Sourcing – LaSalle Network sourced highly qualified candidates from our referral network who had the hybrid experience for which our client was searching. These candidates were discovered by creating a short list of other small advertising and marketing firms
- In-depth Reference Check – LaSalle Network provided pre-placement reference checking on every candidate in consideration for employment with our client. This allowed LaSalle to garner extensive information regarding a candidate’s skill set and capabilities, beyond what was evident on the resume
Results
LaSalle Network presented a candidate with a unique personality, attention to detail and follow-up and the organizational skills necessary to excel in this role and our client’s close-knit environment.
At first glance, our client had reservations regarding our candidate’s qualifications. In the end, however, LaSalle Network helped our client recognize qualities in their potential new employee they would never have otherwise considered, thus, leading to a superior hire within their budget.
