Challenge
LaSalle Network began working with our client, one of the largest public relation firms in the industry, in their accounting and finance department in 2004. Four years later, this public relations leader was going through a systems upgrade within PeopleSoft and they needed LaSalle Network’s help augmenting talent for a four month long project. An interim controller and various other openings in their accounting department were needed.
Identify – An interim controller with at least three years controllership experience, including experience working with PeopleSoft; accounts payable coordinator, accounts receivable coordinator and a staff accountant to ensure the department runs smoothly throughout system upgrade
Qualify – Candidates who fit the culture of the family-owned and operated firm
Deliver – An interim accounting team to start in less than six weeks for a four month project
Solutions
To address our client’s needs for strong accounting professionals, LaSalle Network developed a specific sourcing and recruitment strategy.
The recruitment strategy consisted of the following:
- Client Knowledge – Unlike many industry competitors, LaSalle Network is not a staffing firm that blindly presents candidates in mass. LaSalle Network strove to understand our clients’ hiring needs, long and short-term goals and company culture. Taking the time to get to know our client allowed us to present qualified candidates who not only provided solutions but complimented the existing department and company culture
- Candidate Trust – When interviewing all candidates, LaSalle Network’s project managers took the time to explain the benefits and challenges of each role. This open and fluid communication, built on a deep understanding of our clients, built trust and respect in our candidates, leading to stronger placements and highly impactful new hires
Results
In less than three weeks, LaSalle Network placed an interim controller, as well as multiple positions in accounts receivable, accounts payable and billing. One of these placements included a relocation from Chicago to Detroit, which LaSalle helped facilitate smoothly. Furthermore, we built trust with our client through this successful project, and it led to placements of three additional permanent positions one month following the end of the project: a staff accountant, a senior staff accountant and an accounts receivable supervisor, which had been open for eight months.
