Find A Job
Challenge
LaSalle Network’s client, a leader in patient care, research and educating health professionals in physical medicine and rehabilitation, was planning on relocating their audit function in-house. Simultaneously, they began a major construction project to accommodate at least 300 more patient beds and were in need of a director of internal audit to manage the audit function during this widespread expansion and beyond.
The director position had been open for over a year, with other local and national firms unable to meet their needs. With a strong inventory of qualified director-level candidates, LaSalle Network secured an exclusive contract to fill this urgent need.
Identify – Candidates with wide and deep audit experience able to manage the department during extensive expansion and development
Qualify – Candidates with at least five to seven years of recent audit experience, their CPA, and strong conflict resolution skills; reporting directly to the President and CEO
Deliver – Candidates to be interviewed and start as soon as possible
Solutions
LaSalle Network developed a specific sourcing and recruitment strategy to identity top talent in the area of internal audit.
The recruitment strategy consisted of the following:
- Referral Network – LaSalle Network was founded on the simple concept of networking with job seekers, personal contacts, colleagues, associations and organizations to uncover passive candidates. LaSalle Network recruiters attend at least two networking events per month to facilitate engagement with C-level Chicagoland professionals. Through this proactive networking, LaSalle Network was able to present 13 qualified candidates to our client, five of whom they interviewed for this high-level audit role.
Results
In order to put a director of internal audit in place before the major construction project began, it was important to precisely manage the candidate presentation, interview and offer stages. In less than six weeks, LaSalle Network delivered an offer and acceptance for the director of internal audit position from LaSalle’s personal network.
This fast turnaround allowed LaSalle’s client to inspect their accounting systems and audit internal financial statements to ensure GAAP requirements prior to breaking ground on their new 300-bed facility. In addition, having a stable audit director to oversee the expansion and development construction audits allowed LaSalle’s client to focus on providing the highest quality healthcare to patients in their 30 Chicago area locations. The successful placement of the director of internal audit paved the way for two more human resources hires to support our client’s explosive growth.
