Boost moral and productivity at struggling manufacturing company during bankruptcy

Challenge

LaSalle Network began working with our client, a manufacturing and marketing company of apparel products, two and a half years prior to their bankruptcy filing. When the company fell into bankruptcy, they had two main personnel problems. First, their strongest internal talent knew of the financial struggles and began to resign. Secondly, the remaining employees began to worry about impending liquidation, which caused morale and productivity to plummet. LaSalle Network acted as a partner during this tumultuous time, and was able to provide a solution.

Identify – Accounting professionals with high energy and SAP experience to boost morale in this floundering department, as well as an interim CIO to replace his predecessor who left when the bankruptcy occurred
Qualify – Candidates who not only had the needed experience, but who could maintain department productivity throughout the company’s transition
Deliver – Candidates to start immediately

Solutions

To address our client’s personnel and operational needs, LaSalle Network developed a specific recruitment and consulting strategy before, during and after their bankruptcy.

The strategy consisted of the following:

  • Extensive Consulting Services – LaSalle held weekly strategy meetings and conference calls with our client’s turnaround management firm, who was responsible for restructuring them for sale. In addition, we offered an affordable and equally valuable option to our client by acting as the personnel consultant in place of the turnaround firm consulting team. LaSalle also aided in the planning of the future company hierarchy, in the event of a sale
  • 400,000 Qualified Candidate Database – LaSalle Network was able to quickly present candidates through one of the largest qualified candidate databases in the industry. By mining our extensive, state-of-the-art applicant tracking system for active and passive job seekers, LaSalle Network was able to fill our client’s high-priority openings in less than 30 days

Results

In addition to the recruitment and management of new hires, our client needed an advising partner to guide them through bankruptcy.

Through a partnership with LaSalle Network, our client was able to boost morale and productivity during bankruptcy by utilizing top talent with the necessary experience. In addition, with LaSalle’s guidance, the company proved salvageable and was purchased.

Once sold, LaSalle helped transition our client’s employees to temporary-to-permanent positions and managed their initial experience under new ownership. After the purchase, the new owners relocated many of the original functions out-of-state, and LaSalle filled the void of employees in Chicagoland while the office was in transition.
